Welcome to Marlborough Boys’ College for 2010.

Fighting at MBC will not be tolerated.  Any boys caught fighting will receive an immediate Principals’ Saturday School.  Possible consequences arising from the fight may also include a three day stand-down and suspension from MBC.

ALL - Softball: Would all students who are interested in playing softball for MBC in 2010 please register their name on the notice on the sports noticeboard. Alternatively please see Mrs Joseph or Mr Bishell.

ALL - Touch: Would all junior students who wish to travel to Nelson with the Junior Touch team please be at Lansdowne Park by 5.30pm on Thursday 11 Feb ready to play for Ju’s Juniors. Please wear MBC PE top and shorts. Players that did not or could not turn up last Sunday are welcome.

Y9 - Cricket: Trials for Yr9 students Wednesday 17 Feb at 3.30pm at the school nets. All students wishing to make the Yr 9 team for the game against Nelson College Wednesday 3 March must turn up to the trial. Bring your cricket gear.

ALL - World Vision: Valentine’s Day is 14 Feb. The World Vision team will be selling roses outside the Library Today, Thursday for $5.00. One day only! The flower you buy will be delivered by the world vision team to the Girl’s College for the lucky lady of your choice.

REMINDER  for all boys: Every Thursday Week B (Day 9) the school day will commence at 9.50am. Starting from this Thursday the 11th Feb. Bus boys who catch the school bus will arrive at the usual time and be supervised in the Hall until the commencement of the school day at 9.50am.

Tuition is offered at MBC in guitar, saxophone, all brass, singing.
If you are interested in taking part in the MBC instrumental tuition programme, see Mr Russell or Mr Mulraney in the downstairs Performance Music suite as soon as possible. Tuition commences this week.

The following established MBC music groups are operating again this year:
Jazz band. Jazz ensemble. Concert band. Brass ensemble. Various rock groups. Small group ensembles (not rock). Choir. Junior choir. Classical ensemble (if sufficient interest).

If you are interested in forming your own group, come and see us in the Performance music suite, preferably at break or at lunchtime.

Topic: ‘What makes a Marlborough Man?’
Talk to your English teachers. Get all the details from them or come and see Mrs Parker in the English Workroom.

( 2 ) For Y.s 12 & 13 – a superb opportunity to enter the National Bank RSA Speech Competition.
Speech subject: ‘New Zealanders at War’

You need to see Mrs Parker for the speech details, the registration details and the prize package. PK

ALL - Triathlon/Duathlon Meeting Thursday interval in Rm 37 for all squad members and anyone wishing to enter the Tasman Traiathlon on Monday 15 March. You can enter as a team or as an individual. Training Thursday 3.45pm at the track. All welcome new and old members.

REMINDER for all boys: Every Thursday Week B (Day 9) the school day will commence at 9.50am. Starting from this Thursday the 11th Feb. Bus boys who catch the school bus will arrive at the usual time and be supervised in the Hall until the commencement of the school day at 9.50am.

This tournament is designed for MBC Squash players, to give you the opportunity to get graded games and improve your rankings. New and beginning players are catered for in this tournament and are welcome. See Ms Dann (Media Dept) for details.

ALL – Squash players wanting a locker (inside the club) pay your $10 fee for the year to Ms Dann ASAP. Lockers are hired to the first who apply.
